Once again this year, our Junior Chef finalists have been invited to compete in the regional final of the Springboard FutureChef competition, thanks to a partnership that we established with Springboard in 2018.
This enables our junior finalists to bypass the school and local heats of the FutureChef competition to compete at the regional level for a place in the national final.
Three of our 2019 junior finalists have decided to take up this invitation and will compete at the regional final at Bridgwater and Taunton College, Taunton, on Thursday 6th February 2020.
We wish the very best of luck to the three finalists and would like to thank our judges who have very kindly continued to mentor each of them in preparation for the FutureChef final as well as the South West Junior Chef final.
Good luck to:
- George – Cornwall Junior Chef of the Year, from Truro School, mentored by Emily Scott, Chef Proprietor at the St Tudy Inn, St Tudy
- Munopa – South West Junior Chef of the Year and Somerset Junior Chef of the Year, from Queens College, Taunton, mentored by Liam Finnegan, Head Chef at The Castle Hotel, Taunton
- Oliver – Devon Junior Chef of the Year, from The Kings School, Ottery St Mary, mentored by Mark Dodson, Chef Proprietor of The Masons Arms, Knowstone
The three remaining South West Junior Chef finalists, Katherine, Katie and Susanna, have understandably opted to concentrate on their upcoming exams and chose not to compete in the FutureChef regional final.
