Thank you very much to everyone who entered South West Chef of the Year this year. The judges were delighted to see such passion from the region’s professional chefs and home cooks and, after considering the diverse and exceptional recipes entered in great detail, have selected the competitors they would like to invite to the next rounds of the competition.
In light of the current staffing challenges facing the hospitality industry, we were particularly pleased to receive a large number of entries of a high standard in the Student/Apprentice Chef category. Our judges were very encouraged to see such enthusiasm from the next generation of chefs and hope this is indicative of a more positive outlook for the hospitality sector. For this reason, our judges took the decision to give as many student/apprentice chef entrants as possible the opportunity to cook in the semi-final, in order to support these aspiring young chefs in achieving their ambitions as they take their first steps into the industry.
Below you will find details of those invited to take part in the semi-finals of the Professional , Young Professional and Student/Apprentice Chef categories and in the finals of the Home Cook and Junior Chef categories. The finalists in the Junior Chef category (aged 11-16) were selected by our judges as the winners of the six county finals held during June, who will now meet for the grand South West final.
